For many years textiles made from cotton, have been regarded as particularly beneficial for patients with eczema. This idea was based on belief, not clinical studies. The effectiveness of the BlueCare suits, compared to cotton, was measured in a multi-centre study in four leading clinics in Germany. Patients were selected with moderate to severe eczema (patients were on immuno-suppressants or orat steroids). All patients in the BlueCare suits had their treatment withdrawn (except for moisturisers and emollients), whereas the cotton group had treatment maintained.
